    [US] Pandemic Unemployment Assistance

The $2400 Per Month Benefit No One Is Talking About
    May 18, 2020, Forbes.com

...Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation (FPUC) is effective from March 29th, 2020 through July 31st, 2020, and would provide $600 on top of the weekly state [unemployment] benefit.

Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC) is effective from March 29th, 2020 through December 31st, 2020 and offers 13 additional weeks to the unemployment benefits offered by your state. The amount of the PUEC weekly benefit is the same as your state unemployment weekly benefit rate...

There are many cases in which you would not qualify for state unemployment insurance but you would qualify for PUA [Pandemic Unemployment Assistance].

Here is a non-exhaustive list of situations:

    • You were scheduled to start work but unable to start because of COVID-19
    • You had a job offer that was rescinded
    • You are self-employed, independent contractor, or gig-worker in a state that doesn't offer benefits to those groups
    • You have an insufficient work history to qualify for state benefits
    • You have exhausted your state benefits
    • You have been diagnosed with COVID-19 or you have been forced to self-quarantine as a result of exposure
    • You are caring for a family members who has been diagnosed with COVID-19
    • You are unable to work because your children are unable to attend school or a daycare facility
