Sleep Driving with Sleeping Pills
March 14, 2007
The FDA (U.S.) has strengthened the warnings the manufacturers of 13 sleeping medications must include with their products.
? Drugs include the popular Ambien and Lunesta
? Risks include driving, eating and talking while asleep with no recollection later
? Ambien manufacturer: Fewer than one in 1,000 patients reported somnambulism
Because these medications are intended to put you to sleep, it is important to be able to devote at least 8 hours to uninterrupted sleep.
A small number of people taking these medications have reported various forms of sleep walking, sleep eating and sleep driving!
The medications affected are:
- Ambien
- Butisol sodium
- Carbrital
- Dalmane
- Doral
- Halcion
- Lunesta
- Placidyl
- Prosom
- Restoril
- Rozerem
- Seconal
- Sonata
