I met a friend for coffee this morning. During our time together, she stopped talking, paused and then she said "I need to tell you what I like about you" and she proceeded to tell me. It was a great reminder that no matter what is going on I am still a good person with many strengths.

So this is the inspiration for this thread. What are some of your best stengths/personality traits? If you were to ask a friend to name them for you, what would they say? So what are your 3 best traits/strengths? As with the '3 postive things' thread, you can always come back and add 3 more of your positive traits. Even if you can name only 1 or 2 at the moment, that's ok too.

So to start off here are 3 of my best strengths/traits:

I create 'a space' for my friends to really speak
I am genuine
I am straight forward with people

I took the Brief Strengths Test at the positive psychology site and here are my top 3 strengths.

  1. Creativity
  2. Curiosity
  3. Openmindeness

I'd like to take the VIA Signature Strengths test which is more indepth, later.
I know this is about our 3 top strengths but my lowest strength is forgiveness. :panic:

1. Perspective
2. Kindness
3. Curiosity

My lowest strength was Hope.

Quite an interesting test with even more interesting results.

The traits didn't seem to be listed strictly in order so I'm not sure what were the top three but my high scores (in the order listed) were on:

  • Leadership
  • Creativity [originality, ingenuity]
  • Open-mindedness [judgment, critical thinking]
  • Love of Learning
  • Perspective [wisdom]
  • Vitality [zest, enthusiasm, vigor, energy]
  • Kindness [generosity, nurturance, care, compassion, altruistic love, "niceness"]
  • Social Intelligence [emotional intelligence, personal intelligence]
  • Prudence
  • Appreciation of beauty and excellence [awe, wonder, elevation]
  • Humor [playfulness]

I tried to reply to this thread yesterday, before the link to the test site was put up. I just couldn't think of anything! I'm glad you linked to the test, it helps me come up with a more objective list :)

Highest 3 are:

1. Love of learning
2. Fairness
3. Open-mindedness

Mine were grouped into high, moderate, etc. I just listed the ones in the top group.

:) The others are there. I just listed the ones in the top group.
