We seem to be experiencing an increase in members sending Private Messages (PMs) to moderators and administrators regarding personal issues or seeking individual support.

Please note that we discourage this for several reasons:

1. Our moderators and administrators do not have the time to respond to every PM. Their chief responsibility is to moderate the forums and to enforce rules regarding spam, protection of forum members, etc.

2. If you have a question or problem, chances are that someone else has a similar question or problem. Please post the details in the appropriate Psychlinks forum and that way other members can also benefit from the replies you receive. It also gives other members a chance to share how they have handled or coped with similar situations.

If you are having a technical problem or a problem with another member, by all means use the "Report" button or PM a moderator or an administrator.

Ummm...Just a quick question on this. I sent a request for help trying to log in, but I did it thru the website; it wasn't a PM. Do requests such as this come thru as a PM? Is there another way to request help? Since I couldn't log in, that was the only way I saw. Just wondering if I did the wrong thing. Thanks!--poohbear

No, you didn't do the wrong thing at all, poohbear. Using the "Contact" link to submit a request sends it to me as a regular email and that's fine.

Even sending PMs for technical issues such as this are also perfectly okay. :)

Questions about logging in and on that line are completely ok, I would think - it has to do with the forum.

What is being referred to is for personal support that the forum as a whole was designed to assist you with.

Technical questions are ok - especially if you can't log in.

Reminder: Advisory Regarding Private Messages

Please be reminded that you are asked to post any requests for advice and support in the appropriate forums.

Please do NOT use private messages to request advice or support from our moderators or administrators. First, Psychlinks staff simply do not have time to reply to individual PMs. Second, part of the purpose of the forum is to share problems and solutions with other members. Trying to solicit advice and support via PMs defeats this purpose.

Replying is not possible. This forum is only available as an archive.
