Evelyn Glennie is deaf, lost her hearing at age 12. However she is a world renowned percussionist with a huge discography of recordings and accomplishments performing with various orchestras.

I like her metaphor of a rustling tree when she says that we are able to "hear" by seeing, even without audio.

I had seen her performance several years ago, but had forgotten about it until I saw a recent documentary about Evelyn and how she masters her music. The real treat in the video I pointed to is her performace at the end.
