I am not sure why but for some time i have had a hard time looking at or hearing dry, soft tissue paper, or paper towels. It makes me flinch just imagining it. An example would be if someone has a bunched up tissue and shove it in their pants pocket when wearing tight pants esp when they have long nail, i flinch and have to look away. Even thinking about makes me cringe. How do I stop this impulse, it has gotten worse over the years.:hissyfit: please help!

Tissue and paper towels are by themselves only objects that can't harm you. What happened a person did, not the paper towel or tissue paper.

If you keep telling yourself that it may help. And using cloths for cleaning and such is better for the environment. ;)

I believe a simple program of de-sensitization might help. If this activity interferes with your quality of life, then it would be worth seeking the assistance of a psychologist, who could probably help.

Desensitization is a common strategy used for fear of flying, fear of snakes or any otner external influence that brings up excess reaction.

It's pretty light duty stuff, where they help you approach the difficult subject in gradual steps until the fear or negative feeling is controlled.

Keep us posted on your progress.
