Hi, I found this forum just today and I like what I see so far. The thread on medication-related weight gain is especially interesting and relevant to me, as I have unspecified psychosis and am taking novo-olanzapine. I plan to see my doctor soon to switch to a first-generation atypical antipsychotic, but someday I hope to wean myself off the meds for good. I've tried to wean off them both with the help of my doctor and by myself and have had terrible withdrawal symptoms, although I think the last time I tried to get off of them was a bit better than the first two times. What I did differently was take herbal supplements as per The Road Back website, but I didn't stick to it exactly and I think I tapered off too quickly. Bummer. So that's my story -- glad I found this forum! Hello to everyone! :)

Welcome zaika!

I can relate with the issues on weight gain with certain medications. I also gained weight on Zyprexa.

I think the best way to go off of meds is always with the advice and assistance of your doctor. It will make the "withdrawal symptoms" a lot less. Not to mention it is incredibly dangerous to come off of any medication without the advice of your doctor.

Sorry, that sounds like a lecture, its not meant to be.
I hope you and your doctor can find something that works better for you. Welcome!
