Hello! I thought I'd introduce myself, and use this thread as part of my signature in the future, so that people understand a little bit about my background. Our experiences dictate who we are and I hope it will give some insight into some of my replies.

My intentions on coming here is to share some of my experiences which I feel, in some way, has a connection to mental illness. I also have a few questions I need answered but I haven't been able to find anywhere else on the net.

OK the facts about me:

Present:
-24 year old male
-Geomatics tech by trade (i'm a land surveyor)
-Finishing up final year of college
-living in small town nova scotia

Past:
-drug addict/ bipolar mother (no contact for 2 years)
-neglectful father (no contact for 7 years)
-have lost young family members from addictions
-witnessed suicide attempts
-been in more schools than grades
-seen quite a bit of criminal activity (as a child with said drug addicted mother)
-I possibly have ADD/ADHD
-had speech therapy when i was young, also thought to be dyslexic

Personality
-Indepandant, never in many relationships, loner-ish
-considerate, respectful, understanding
-realist, I accept things for how they are, not how i want them to be
-often disruptive, joke constantly
-rarely stressed/easy going (and that IS a problem)
-inconsistent
-emotionally neutral, I'm usually either happy, or just ok

So this is just a brief introduction of who I am, but I look forward to participating in discussion and hearing your opinion's on some issues presented in these forums :)
