Hi all,

I have complex ptsd and was wondering if any other members in this group are struggling with the same disorder?

At risk of appearing ignorant, are all posts done through this thread format or is there a reply or post new message tab that I am missing?

I saw the introduction bar, saying tell us a little about yourself, but I didn't see a place that facilitated the introduction, or is this it?

Hi Songbird,

:welcome: to Psychlinks.

Several years back I too was given a diagnosis of PTSD. I've done alot of work in therapy and things have gotten better. I hope they do for you, as well.

I'm not very technical, and thus I'm not sure I understand your questions, so I'm going to leave them for the more tech-savvy to answer. At this point, your intro post made it to the right section of the forum, so I'm going to say you done good :2thumbs:.

Hi Songbird,

Welcome to Psychlinks :)

As for your technical question, I'm not exactly technologically savvy either. If I understand your question...If you scroll down on this thread, you'll see a reply box. If you want to start a new thread, you'll see the new thread button at the top left.

I hope that I understood your question correctly. :)

Welcome Songbird.

I do not have PTSD but I know there is quite a bit of info on this forum about the disorder.

I do believe that your introduction here is fine.

*Anyone please correct me if I am wrong.

Look forward to seeing you around ;)

Re: DBT

Hi Stongheart and Turtle,

Thanks for your responses. I'm relieved to find others with cptsd on this site with whom I can exchange thoughts, struggles and recovery suggestions with.

Have either of you tried DBT for cptsd? If yes, was it helpful?

I am seeing them, I'm just wasn't used to the posting method. Every time I replied another 'post quick reply' would appear....I think I'm getting it now. There is hope....lol

To answer your question about DBT, songbird, my answer is no - I'm in relational focused analytic based psychotherapy. But there's a strong 'mindfulness' element - which is part of DBT, but in my therapy the skills aren't named or given exercises to practice. That works for me, as I much prefer the fluidity, it suits the way my mind works.

I haven't tried DBT yet, but we've talked about giving it a try. We are using a combination of techniques, as my diagnoses are complex; PTSD is only one of them, and the one that has the least amount of symptoms at this juncture. I've been in therapy for almost five years though, and initially the PTSD symptoms were really, really difficult.
