HI i'm Tina and I'm looking for some help or insight into my friends behavior.

She was diagnosed with cancer about a year ago and her only support is our small group of friends. Many of us have medical backgrounds and we have spent many, MANY hours helping her and her disabled daughter. but.....things just don't add up. I think we will need to go to the factitious forum to write more and hopefullly try to understand this and find a way to set some boundaries for our own sanity. (what's left of it!!)

Very appreciative that this forum is here and look forward to participating. Thank you

Hello Tina and welcome to Psychlinks!

Your post does not provide much insight what signs are causing your concern, but are you thinking this might be a case of M?nchausen syndrome by proxy or perhaps malingering?

She was diagnosed with cancer

What are your reservations about the apparent diagnosis and your friend's behavior?

Thank you for your prompt response. I will go further into this in the "Other 'Disorders", but briefly...she states she has ports, home IV chemo,
kidney dialysis...on...and on...on deaths door....weighing 200 punds and eating pizza! No sign of ports, home medical equipment or s/s of a house supports a person with this heavy a tx and radiation load. Hx of legal accusation w/o conviction of munch by proxy when her child was young.
We don't doubt that there may be cancer... but ? the mets to all the areas and the treatments etc.

how do we support what may be real vs her sucking all the energy out of her small support group? tx again
