Your own vBulletin Panic Button is displayed at the bottom right of every page, so you can quickly click yourself to the safety of any other page of your choice if someone approaches who you do not want to see that you are viewing the forum.

To enable this feature:

1. Click on Settings at the top of any page.

2. Scroll down to Settings >> General Settings in the left hand menu.

3. Scroll down the page to Panic Button On-Off Switch and set it to On (the default is Off).

4. Just below that, enter a link to any valid web page, e.g., Google (make certain that you include the http:// part).

To turn the feature Off, see #3 above.

Re: New Feature: Panic Button

Fantastic feature.. :) :)

an observation if I may,
When I click the panic button it does indeed navigate away from here, but! and I am not sure if this is a negative or positive.. if I click on the back button of my browser I will again be back here still logged in. meaning that if I were to walk away from the computer, anyone who wants to check on Where I was could do the same thing and also see the user name.

Seeing as how there are some really computer savvy people here :). Is there a way to automatically be logged out when navigating away using the panic button. Which I still think is a brilliant addition here. :)

Re: New Feature: Panic Button

I am thinking of situations where other people have to share their computers (home or family computers for inst) or have to leave it in a hurry. :).

I don't know of any way to do that, AC. If you are able to use IE9, there is in private prowsing which doesn't save any history.

Re: New Feature: Panic Button

We were encountering some server slowdowns. I'm not yet certain why but I've disabled some of the recently installed add-ons and tweaked some server setting to see if that will resolve the issues.

For the moment, the panic button option is disabled. I may reinstall it later to test it further.

I really hope you can reinstall it.. I have to use it fairly often here. :)

Was last nights outage linked to the slowdowns or was that just regular maintenance.?

Re: New Feature: Panic Button

Let me see how stable the current server tweaks are and then I'll try to reinstall it, AC.

I'm not certain what caused the outage last night. That's why I'm paying closer attention to server performance now. :)

Re: New Feature: Panic Button

Oh, there was an outage? I was wondering why I couldn't log in earlier this morning... And now it's really slow again, but apparently not long enough to time out (yet)...

Re: New Feature: Panic Button

Sorry about that. I was trying to track down that odd "print in thread title" bug and disabled it and forgot to reenable it when it didn't make a difference.

It's back now. :)
