It really is.

Of course we ourselves do provide stimulus for others to respond to. BUT there are so many ways and choices in HOW people can then respond to our stimulus.

Their way of responding is a whole lot about them.

And people are also going to deal plenty of stuff out which is just coming ONLY from them. Without stimulus on our part, OR totally unrelated to any stimulus we have (or think we have) provided.
