Hi, All,

As you'll see I'm from down under. Just a kiwi woman who's a bit different and quite well known. My difference is in being I S = Intersexed.

As I'm involved with many groups I'm always on the lookout for help & info to be able to help those in the communities I'm in and in joining this forum i can look at different ways how meds / drugs can be a help for some who need access to info for themselves. I'm very aware of how meds can help & in some cases cause a lot of problems so with 37 years with my partner I've had to work through a lot of issues in being able to help, depresson being the main one, and what can happen over that time.

As to family we have 3 grown up adults & with 9 grandkids. I'm retired tho worked in the building trades and been out side of N Z so have met many people in 3 different countries and have many friends around the world. :)

Welcome to Psychlinks, noeleena!

My difference is in being I S = Intersexed.

Forgive my being naive, but for those of us not familiar with the term, would you describe what that means?

Hi,

There are quite a few of us who are intersexed, depends on how much & that depends on our hormones .plus a lot of other details that one can get bogged down with so i'll just do a basic look at this,
Hence the difference between male & female , so if you take a male to the right as a full male & a female to the left as a full female ,
some where inbetween we may be tho we are all different , its very hard to say are we who are intersexed the same . no ,we are very different with in our groups , we see this more now than years ago.

the term that was used = Hemaphroditism or those who are some where with in the spectrm of being a mix of male & female. the Karyotype xxy female or xy male . is only two of many different combos. . & does not have or need to say for us we are one or the other ,

So for us there is no black & white , some are born with both sets of organs both sets of hormones & that can change at different times in ones life you may think your a boy & later every thing starts to change, some have a womb some of us not , i dont, so it can be quite a dilemmer & can cause lots of body problems needing surgery .

Im brain wired as a female yet allso male to some degree & there are things with in my body that are female , so im a mix of both male & female .

Not as has been posted in another part of this forum under the heading , Transexual, Crossdressers & transvestits or bi . tho i am invloved with many trans forums around the world,im not a transsexual , tho haveing said that there are some details that can be similer, tho not for all of us,

Im a woman & accepted as one in my own right. tho have masculine facial features ,

At the age of 10 i knew i was a mix of both male & female . im now aged 64, i have been in the media T V & talked with groups of people to explain what its like going through these changes & how it effects us & others with in our familys .& to put it quite bluntly its a HELL. & most of us get through , tho we have lost a good few to suiside because they could not take what they had to go through,

In my profile on the net just use my name,

i did not say anthing about being intersexed because as has been said if one is not famiiar with people like us its very hard to understand, so thank you for asking & giveing myself the oppitunity to answer,

Thank you.
