CBC News
Apr 12, 2011
A warning about walnuts possibly tainted with E. Coli has been expanded to include Calgary, after officials became aware the nuts were being sold at a store in the northwest.
On Tuesday, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency widened its recall to include some products sold at Jimmy's A & A Mediterranean Deli at 1401 20th Ave. N.W.
The recalled products are raw walnuts and walnut pieces, in 500- to 600-gram packages, with UPC codes beginning with 0 200718, or sold in bulk, in one-pound or less quantities, in clear plastic bags with yellow tape closures.
The nuts were imported from the U.S. and distributed in bulk by Amira Enterprises Inc. of Montreal.
The company's products have been removed from shelves across Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada, as well as Vancouver.
