Ever wonder what is an SSRI, the medication so frequently prescribed for depression and anxiety...meds like Effexor, Prozac, Luvox, etc?

The Mayo Clinic has a helpful article that explains how they work and what to expect with them: Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) - Mayo Clinic

and if you're a bit of a techie, and would like a more scientific presentation on SSRI's and how they work in the brain, McGill University has an interesting presentation called THE BRAIN FROM TOP TO BOTTOM

The McGill site contains further links to learn more about the mode of action and effects of each type of antidepressant medication in addition to SSRI's, namely, MAOIs, Tricyclics, and Lithium
