i still have my moments of depressive thinking, usually when feeling stressed or overwhelmed. is this something that will be there forever? is it just going to take lots of practice to recognize those moments and to move beyond them?

i guess i am just wondering if it's possible to be completely free of depressive thinking or if that's unrealistic?

I know for OCD (which is less common than depression) they say that the tendency for "what-if" thinking will always be there, but, even then, that's such a world apart from being paralyzed by OCD that it would still be a "rags-to-riches" situation of maintaining very good mental health.

In any case, with overcoming depression, it certainly can be the case that one can become happier than, say, one's neighbor down the street who never had depression but has common stresses like work, kids, risk of foreclosure, etc.
