Does any one know whether it is possible to officially annul a baptism in the catholic religion ?
I was baptized as an infant , and after the age of 12 or so , I didn't agree with the dogma , over the years I feel more and more antipathy for the inhumanity of the opinions expressed by the leaders of this religion ,which are more and more out of phase with the realities and sufferings of the world population . I would like to officially annul my non consented appartenance to this intolerant and in my opinion increasingly dangerous religion .

There are many priests and nuns who are wonderful and who work unceasingly to improve the lives of disadvantaged populations .

It is the leader who angers me .

Re: Annulation of a baptisism ?

Has anything happened for you to want the baptism annulled?

I was born in the Lutheran faith but as an adult I have the choice to express my spirituality in the way I see fit - and do.

Like you I express my spirituality privately , but it annoys me deeply that my name is still in some church register somewhere .
The recent papal declarations horrified me . And it is a matter of principal to show my disaprobation officially .
A tiny drop in the ocean I know, but it is important to me .

Thanks Jazzey ,

that's a great help . I didn't know where to begin to look .:)

I was baptized Anglican and have since become an agnostic because I didn't feel that the religion suited me. If you don't mind my asking why do you need to make it official?

Oh I see, well perhaps you should approach the minister.

Another good starting point may be the church in which you were baptised. I am sure that they would have record of it and could probably direct you as to how to get it annulled or removed.

I admire the level of your integrity wp and am glad that Jazzey and Halo were able to provide ideas/links for you to follow up. I would not have known how to help. I'm glad that others have. :)
