Here is the story...
Last I was in the hospital for 8 weeks. Before I was classified as BPII and during my stay they changed it to GAD, OCD and depression. I left with 5 mgs of zyprexa and 60 mgs ciparlex. After a few months I changed PsDoc and he changed the cipralex for 30 mgs remeron and 30 mgs cymbalta as I was so anxious and depressed again. As needed up to 150 mgs of serequel and 3 mgs of ativan. 3 weeks ago he took me off the zyprexa.
For 19 years I was addicted to rivotril and stopped it in 2000 so I did not take the ativan. As for the seroquel it turned me into a zombie as I was always sedatedso I stopped it too. To be honest I took the ativan a few times and it works but I cant convince myself to take it permenantly.
Call catch 22.... any advice would be welcome and maybe relese my fears of meds..I'm obsessed over them.(OCD)
How is the Ativan to be taken....3 mg per day all at once or 3 mg divided during the day or 3 mg as needed?

You need to discuss the benefits of the Ativan prescription vs the risks of habituation with your doctor, since you have a history of having been habituated to a benzodiazepine. Although these two medications happen to be benzodiazepines, therefore in the same clas of medications, the way they are metabolized in the body is very different, which is perhaps why your doctor chose to prescribe Ativan.
But in my opinion, in your own best interests, because you recognize a potential for a problem and feel some apprehension about using what your doctor prescribed, I really feel you need to have a conversation with your psychiatrist, the specialist who can best advise you.
My PsyDoc is a researcher and I'm scheduled to be part of a new med trial for anxiety causing depression so this is the reason that I'm trying to stay clean...I hate meds and I'm obsessed by them (OCD)
