I have come to the conclusion that a member of my family has psychpathic character disorder.

By "psychopathic," do you mean he has been violent to people or threatening violence? Or do you mean more along the lines of non-violent narcissistic behavior?

BTW, substance abuse as well as disorders like bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and depression can lead to narcissistic (and even violent) behavior towards others.
