I would like to edit about twenty pages without re-typing. When I scan the pages it seems to just take a picture of each page and does not allow editing. They were originally done on a typewriter. Is there a way I can transfer the pages to my computer so that I can edit? Mari
I believe that there are specific programs that are needed in order to be able to manipulate the document. I know at work we have used OmniPagePro which seemed to work for some and crashed others computers. Mine was one that it crashed on so they deleted the program.
I honestly don't know anything else but I am sure that others will have some suggestions for you.
If nothing comes up or you don't want to buy a program, I am more than willing to re-type the pages for you. You can always email me the scanned versions. As you may know, I type for a living so 20 pages is not that much and considering that I am not working right now, I have lots of time on my hands. Anyways....just a suggestion, no obligations, hope you find a solution that works.
Hi Mari,
There is another way , a bit laborious ,if you have photoshop or an image processing program, scan the pages ,convert to Bitmap or Jpeg, erase the words and use the text tool to retype and replace each part edited , I just tried it and it works , however to have exactly the same look as the type written original would be a problem , due to the font differences . I would take Halo up on her kind offer.

I meant to say 'erase the words or senteces you want to edit" , not all the words
Thank-you for the tips. In the long term it might be worth the effort but for now I think it will be easier to just re-type. If it occurs again I might take Halo up on her offer. I know it is not that much work but it is the getting started part that takes me the most time. Mari
When you buy a scanner, there is usually an OCR included with the software package. It's the only way to accomplish the task you described.
Depending on the quality of type in the original there may be occasional errors in the recognition, but being a computer, the errors are usually consistent, so a spellchecker can pick them up.
