Hi There, Just joined. Just found out at 56 years old that I suffer from attachment disorder and also had selective mutism as a child. If anyone has any comments or has gone through these and have had any success, please let me know. Thanks Evelyn
I've taken the liberty of separating your welcome posts to a message thread of their own, so your welcomes won't be mixed with another new member's welcome posts.
Hope you find the information and support you need. Feel free to look through the Forum and join in any ongoing discussion or start some of your own.
If you have any questions about how to navigate the Forum, let us know. We're here to help.
Hi Steve, Well you are right. I have no idea how to navigate this forum. I'm not hearing the information that I am seeking and because I don't know anyone, I don't really know what they are suffering from. I hear the frustration, but I don't know the diagnosis.
Evelyn
First, have a look HERE where you can look up how to perform various functions on the Forum. Most of the basic operations for navigating Forum threads can be found in General Forum Usage
Use the navigation menu at the top of the Forum page to get you to where you want to go. For example, to get to the Forum Home Page Select Forum
There is a slight difference between Recent Posts and New Posts. The time span or Recent Posts is longer than New Posts, so depending on whether you want to look through posts on a specific topic, you would look at the Forum Homepage and scroll through the headings until you find the subject you're interested in; however, if you prefer to follow all the current discussions each time you return to the Forum, then you would choose Recent Posts or if you check in daily you would select New Posts.
In the listings of discussions, when the title is in bold type, it's a discussion you have not yet read, but if it's in regular (un-bolded) type, you have previously seen it.
You don't have to know anyone on the Forum to post a message, because Forum members select topics that interest them, and Forum staff looks at all posts to monitor activity, so your post will be seen at some point. You may not receive an immediate response, because people come and go during the day and night, but by returning to the Forum from time to time, you should see some replies or comments to your own posts.
It's all very informal, so just jump in to any ongoing discussion, add your comments or ask a question and eventually someone should come along and take a kick at the can and move the discussion forward.
Does this give you the insights you were looking for on how the Forum works?
