During Mental Heallth Awareness week, Neil Lennon who was captain of one of Scotland's top football clubs Celtic, spoke of his battle with depression at the launch of the Scottish Recovery Networks latest event on recovering from mental illness.

He said that talking about it in public was was worse than playing in an Old Firm game (against Rangers in Glasgow). He said that 'I am the last person you would think of as depressed - someone who is confident, cocky and as aggressive as me'. 'When if first hit me I became a complete shell and I could not focus on anything'. The Club doctor told him to look on it as he would an an injury and since then he has seen a doctor on a regular basis.

Lennon now play for Nottingham Forrest, still battles with his condition and requires medication.
