Free Online Program For Panic Sufferers
by Sonja Dupor, Panicked Chick Blog

Today I found this website that offers help for people suffering from Panic Attacks. I haven't found anything as complete and free as this site yet. It's called The Panic Center and it offers support groups, forums, tools for managing anxiety, worksheets, etc. The Panic Program consists of nine sessions and is for people suffering from panic and agoraphobia. There are also seven more sessions that focus on specific anxiety such as shyness and grief/loss.

Registration is free and you can remain anonymous if you wish. You can follow the program by yourself or with a health care professional.

Please bear in mind that this is an educational site and should not be used in place of your doctor's advice.

Free Online Therapy For Depression & Anxiety

Like the online Panic Center I blogged about recently, e-couch is also an online CBT therapy program. The program is aimed at treating depression, generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) and social anxiety. The site offers

"...information, exercises and a workbook to track your progress and record your experiences, and toolkits to help you improve your mood and emotional state, and tackle challenges that you may be facing."
And of course you can remain anonymous. As with any online advice, take it as being for informational or educational purposes, not diagnostic. Never stop your medication without first consulting your doctor or other mental health professional.

There has been a number of new free online therapy programs developed and available online since this original post.

Generally they fall into two categories:
1. Online Therapist chat channels
2. Self-help CBT programs for various mental health disorders

The online therapist chat channels can be operated volunteers mostly free or professionals which usually have a cost associated with them.

Beyond the two programs mentioned there is also another free online therapy for depression offered by our non-profit CIMHS that teaches core CBT skills to help with depression.
