PTSD and PACAP: just the gene we wanted
Here's an interesting article that I came across - from Nature (Feb 2011), and summarized in Psychology Today. Essentially it talks about an increase in a protein made by women with PTSD - compared to men with PTSD. Because there is a measurable protein involved, it involves activation of a gene in the women studied. The study limitations are noted (including small sample size), but it is very interesting to contemplate the ramifications of this.
