I found this forum with a quick Google search, I've overcome a lot and I am thankful for it. I am struggling with this repellent personality of mine. I'm 40, in better shape than most half my age, I don't smoke, I have nice white teeth and I'm on top of personal hygiene, yet I just repel people everywhere I go. I am successfully self employed for the last 12 years, thank God for that because I've never been able to hold a job let alone a decent one. I am hoping to get some insight as to what makes me seem like such an awful person to be around. My username is the nickname given to The Rock's character in the movie Pain & Gain, although I see myself as much more intelligent than his character portrays, I found the username quite fitting lol

Hello, Welcome! Nice to meet you. I hope that you start viewing yourself as a precious and successful person and not as "repellent" something. Hope you post more as to what makes you feel this way.

Eldad,

Welcome to Psychlinks!

Hope you find the information and insights you're looking for.

Would you share what typically happens when you try to establish a relationship that eventually fails?

I guess, to be honest, I don't even try to establish relationships and I haven't for years now. I remember when I was a kid. Like 8 or 9 years old at best. Some of the neighbourhood kids and I dug holes in our unpaved driveway with our Tonka trucks and plastic toy shovels. So one day we decided to dig a hole, a bigger and deeper hole than we'd ever dug. We planned this out, had a big discussion about it, lined up our toy trucks and tools. Seemed like a team effort. There was really no one "in charge" per se. Soon as we got on "site" and I said, alright, go time! Well one of the other kids, just said screw this, and ran home. Completely outta the blue and for a reason I could not identify nor understand. He was a bit older and I kinda looked up to him at the time. I ran over and asked what the problem was, he just slammed the door in my face and from that moment on, we never hung out again. The day's project subsequently got cancelled.

It's easy to tell half a story and leave out details. I have no problem manning up when I'm wrong. But this is exactly how I remember it. Believe me even though this was 30+ years ago I remember it like it was yesterday. I honestly don't know what I did wrong. But I think that was where this all started.

Being self employed, what kind of work do you do? What, if any contact do you have with clients, employees, if any, colleagues in your line of work?

Are you currently or have you ever been in a domestic relationship?

Do you participate in any social activities?
