I have been trying to find the answer everywhere. Is major depressive disorder a recognized disability in Canada? I was also told I have a gaf score of 50. I don't know if it's actually a disability or if it is all in my head.
Documented mental disorders can meet the criteria for disability but the key word here is "documented", with a diagnosis from a practitioner with the training and legal authority to diagnose (i.e., a physician or psychiatrist or psychologist.
Whether the disability would be considered partial or full, or temporary or permanent, would depend upon individual circumstances.
A GAF score of 50 if accurate would imply a significant impairment of level of functioning.
