LG 150 Voluntary Recall
LG Canada - LG150 Voluntary Recall Notice
LG Electronics Canada Inc. was notified by one of the independent bodies responsible for the certification of mobile phones that the LG 150 mobile phone is no longer certified as meeting the Radio Standards Specifications 102 (RSS 102).
In response, LG has issued a voluntary recall of this mobile phone as described below. This program is effective immediately and will run until March 31, 2009.
The LG 150 is the only mobile phone manufactured by LG that is affected by this recall announcement.
LG?s preliminary testing indicates that only LG 150 phones from specific product runs may be affected by this issue. At the current time, we believe this issue to be limited to certain batches of phones produced between August 2007 ? February 2008. As a result, LG is therefore recommending that all LG 150 phones manufactured within such production runs be returned in accordance with the instructions set out below.
Instructions
To identify if your phone was manufactured within the production period affected please check the model of your phone and the date when it was manufactured by following the steps below:
Turn off your phone
Remove Battery Cover
- Push the button located on the back of the phone
- Slide the cover off the phone
Remove Battery
- Locate the bottom of the battery marked by two indentations
- Lift the battery by pulling up
Check Model Number
- Locate the MODEL NO on the label
Check Serial Numbers
- The following serial numbers are included in the recall 708XXXXXX to 802XXXXXX
- Whereby the first digit represents the year of manufacture [2007 ? 2008 shown]
- The second and third digits represent the month [August ? February].
Please note, however, that because customer satisfaction and safety continue to be our primary commitment, we are taking a proactive approach and working in cooperation with our carriers to allow all LG 150 phones to be returned.
Health Canada is of the opinion, based on the review of test results and its assessment of current science, that the past and current use of the LG 150 should not pose immediate or long-term health concerns.
Important Note
LG?s preliminary testing indicates that only LG 150 phones from specific product runs may be affected by this issue. At the current time, we believe this issue to be limited to certain batches of phones produced between August 2007 ? February 2008 (as identified above). LG is conducting ongoing testing of the LG 150 mobile phone to conclusively determine whether the non-compliance issue is confined to a specific production run. Should additional testing confirm this is the case, this recall could be immediately narrowed to the specific production runs affected, and if so, all unaffected phones will at that time be ineligible for return to LG under this program. LG will provide an update to this site once testing is completed.
