Little did we know those 16 years ago that we were starting on a journey.
Mental illness was to take us along a long, difficult and, at times, dangerous path. It is a journey on which we are still travelling.
Who would have thought then that we would find ourselves as writers and advisors on mental illnesss awareness. We don't claim to be 'experts' or literary masters as such but we have written of what we felt and learnt during these events and hope that by doing so we can give a further insight into living with and learning to manage a severe psychiatric disorder with its symptoms of self-harming, psychosis and suicidal thoughts.
