Marking a thread as read

Does this not happen automatically? I always end up having to do "mark forums read" that is at the bottom or under Quick Links.

It gets confusing to me. Of course, lots of things are confusing to me.

It does happen automatically. However, the forum only updates the read/not thread topics at intervals - another measure to conserve server resources - so if you go back to the index right away it may still display the "unread" thread marker for a bit.

Also, you have to have your browser set to allow cookies.
