Thanks Mary. And you're right, there is pain associated with the memories. But I still think we have to work through all of it in therapy. While I don't want to revisit my memories with anyone, I'm guessing I'll have to discuss them in therapy.

In fact, one of the memories that I've not been discussed with my therapist (I just couldn't) - I've emailed her tonight. Explaining why I couldn't discuss it and that I'm still not yet ready to talk about it.

I get scared of going back through those memories, but if it means that I'll get better, then I'm willing to give it a try...

Jazzey,

I agree with both Sue and Mary. I think that dealing with one trauma can definitely open the floodgates for more trauma coming through.

What you said above is so true, I think that we do need to work through them in therapy. I know that it took me a long time to even admit to my therapist of the trauma that I have gone through and there is still more to come.

Good job on writing to your therapist about the trauma that you eventually need to deal with.

Take care

Therapy can only help us with the pain if we are open and upfront with the psychologist. We're providing them with the information they need so they know which tools to apply to our pain. Do you know what I mean? It's only when I was really candid about what I've been doing lately that my doctor recognized trauma and now I'm getting help with this too...

mary, whatever you discuss with your therapist is confidential and will not be revealed to others. i hope knowing this will help you open up a little bit with your therapist.

your therapist will help you with the fear too jazzey. you won't be doing anything you aren't ready for. small steps :)
