A company that makes over-the-counter drugs is voluntarily recalling selected lots of six health products sold as store brands by various retailers.
Health Canada says the recall is the result of an inspection at the Pharmetics manufacturing plant in Laval, Que., where deficiencies were detected on the production line.
It says there was possible contamination between the product lines, and some products were labelled with the wrong expiry dates.
The recall covers specific lots of:
•acetaminophen 500-milligram extra strength tablets sold by Shoppers and Loblaws
•acetaminophen, caffeine & eight-milligram codeine phosphate tablets sold by Shoppers, Rexall, Loblaws and Procurity
•sinus medication night tablets sold by Shoppers, Proxim and Rexall
•Daytime Sinus Relief extra strength tablets from Proxim, Jean Coutu and Shoppers
•Allergy & Sinus Relief Extra Strength Tablets from Rexall and Shoppers
•and Muscle and Back Pain Relief Extra Strength Tablets from Federated Co-op, Loblaws, Rexall, Safeway, Uniprix, Jean Coutu and Value Drug Mart.
Pharmetics Inc. is asking customers to return the products to their place of purchase.
Customers are advised to see the Health Canada website for the complete list of lot numbers, and photos of the recalled products.
