Just a quick "bio" for readers of this website. I am a Professor of Psychiatry at SUNY Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, NY; and also Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Tufts University in Boston. I am, with Dr. Nassir Ghaemi, the developer of the Bipolar Spectrum Diagnostic Scale (BSDS), which is in the public domain and for which I receive no compensation. I am also the author of several psychiatric textbooks, a collection of poetry, and a book of short stories. Finally, I am Editor-in-Chief of Psychiatric Times, a peer-reviewed professional journal.
