It's really hot here today; the heat index is 101! But I decided to go outside earlier and walk around my little town with a camera and take pics of anything that happened to catch my eye.

I walked and walked, not paying any attention to where I was going or how long I'd been at it... I started following some railroad tracks. After a while I sort of came back to myself and realized that I was surrounded by wheat fields instead of houses, and that I'd been at it for over an hour! Of course I hadn't brought anything with me except my camera, my door key, and my phone. No water, of course.

I turned around and headed back for town and home, becoming more and more aware of how very hot I was, and how wet my clothes were with sweat, and how very badly I needed a drink! The store where my husband works was a couple of blocks closer than home, so I made my way there-- by which time my heart was pounding in my ears and I felt ready to collapse, lol. I rested for a little bit and drank water until I was back to normal.

Despite my stupidity in wandering off in the hot sun, I did enjoy myself. It's not very often that I see anything I haven't seen before in a town this small! I'm no photographer and my camera isn't that great, but I just thought I'd share my experience with all of you wonderful people. I created a new Photobucket account just for the few pics I did take today-- go HERE. :)

The last one is my favorite. That old truck seemed very happy in its final resting place with flowers where its engine once was. And the old book lying inside-- I checked it out. It's a Bible. :)

Really cool Charity :) Thank you for sharing them. I especially loved the picture of the squirrel and of the log. You're a good photographer..consider framing them at some point?

Also - I love what you did today. That's what I do too - wander to discover little areas that I didn't know existed before. Of course, I bring a water bottle :smartass: :D

Adding: I also like the train arriving at the station :)

Very nice Charity, thank you for sharing your day with us. Jazzey is right, you are a great photographer! I love photography, I took it in school.

Any thoughts of doing some photography work "on the side". Seems you enjoy it and you do well at it too!

Thanks again for sharing :)

Hey Charity - I love your photos! :2thumbs: What a great idea! Glad you survived the heat and thank you for giving us the chance to view these pictures! :thankyou2:

My fav is the trees with their reflection in the water - very serene! :loveit:

I signed up for an account as well - I've wanted to do that for awhile now.

Have a great evening!:D

Charity,

I think those pics are great! I think you have a real eye. I love photography as well, but I rarely take a good picture. If I do it's by fluke.:eek:mg:
Have you ever thought of maybe trying to do it part-time or is it more of a hobby for you?

Either way I think it's really awesome that you go out and do something you enjoy like that. :goodjob:

Have a good weekend.
