Sertraline for social anxiety
Monday, March 13, 2006

Around 13% of people will suffer from social anxiety at some point during their lives. Social anxiety is characterised by fear and avoidance of social situations and a number of physiological symptoms including blushing, palpitations, trembling and anxiety. A trial of a drug called sertraline on 619 patients in the U.S. and Canada has produced some promising results with people taking sertraline suffering significantly less fear and avoidance of social situations. The sertraline was effective at reducing blushing and palpitations but not trembling and sweating.
