Recently been suffering from nasty headaches and strange sensations in my head!! Things like my brain being too big for my skull, the feeling of cold water running over the top of my head, feelings like I have hit my head when I know I haven't!! This sort of thing!! I do have a condition called 'hydrocephalus', but I was told at the time of my op that I would not be able to have anymore treatment to correct it!! I have also been very, very stressed out because I have started counselling, it's only my 5th session tomorrow!! It is so painful and difficult to even breathe at the moment!! Every minute feels like days!! I hurt alot and I cry alot!! And I try to sleep a lot, but the nightmares and night terrors are awful too!! Does anyone know anything that can help with any of this? I need to do this therapy!! I know that!! How do I cope with these physical symptoms I get from being totally stressed and emotional!! Will this all settle down once I start dealing with stuff? I don't want to see my GP unless I really, really have to!! She scares me and I could do without the extra pressure right now!! Anyone help me?

Lonewolf you do need to talk to your doctor about your headaches especially if you have hydrocephalus until you find out what is causing the pain you do not know if there is treatment for it or not.

In regards to the therapy you will be given coping skills on how to deal with the nightmares and the anxiety that comes with it.

Do not neglect your health ok it is something you should not just put aside if you are in that much pain then time now is to get it looked after before any more damage occurs If the drainage tubing is blocked it may need to be replace or unblocked do it now don't wait

Great work Lonewolf and sorry that you have got these challenges going on.

Definitely if you can, keep touching base with your GP regularly about physical health issues you are dealing with, and be sure to keep a notebook of the suggestions you get, things to follow up, etc. At times when there are some treatments or referrals not available to you, that will help you still know what stuff is other kinds of suggestions that you will still be able to follow up. It would understandably be so hard to feel in any way centred or anything with various stuff like this going on, so I find putting things on paper is so helpful to give me something physical to ground myself and focus on and stuff. It can also help you start or continue helpful grounding habits, like having the front of your notebook with notes of where to go, who to speak to, resources you may still be able to get access to; and the back of the notebook be letting feelings out, a little bit of free writing or drawing or doodling or sketching.... other little physically grounding things for these hard hard times.

The only other thing I can think of right now LW is

a) a good magnesium supplement (like a big dose of magnesium orotate or magnesium chelate, or a combination) which can actually be very very helpful for anything that has to do with the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and feelings and thoughts and anxiety and stress;

b) yoga movements which you can find on youtube and copy. Can be wonderfully grounding and physical-state-changing, for horrible physical symptoms of anxiety and other stuff. Try just searching 'basic yoga exercises' or 'beginner yoga exercises' on youtube.

And as said, write down in your notebook whatever your counsellor suggests for getting through the in-between time between your sessions.

And of course, just checking in and chatting here, looking up stuff here, just to help know that someone is there, someone is listening, a little bit grounding/connecting, and knowing you are part of a group and there are people who care.

Hang in there, proud of you!!!!
