Turn on Cloud Backup for Microsoft Authenticator app on Android & iPhone
by AyushVij, TheWindowsClub.com

Microsoft has pushed an update to the Microsoft Authenticator on Android and iOS which introduces cloud backup feature on these mobile devices. This backup will include the user’s account credentials and the related application data like the settings and more. This means that when you reset your device or install Microsoft Authenticator on your new device, you will not have to add all your accounts again. Rather, you can just restore the backup for these accounts and get them back on your phone.

I’m not a fan of personal data in the cloud. iOS devices can be completely backed up locally and restored to the same or even a new device.

the less you have on the net or the cloud the less vulnerable you leave yourself.

i think it’s important to preserve the little bit of privacy we have left as hard as it may be.

If major websites and banks/banking apps are constantly being hacked what makes the average joe think his cloud accounts are safe?

your security info, account logins, passwords and private info are safer blatantly slapped on your wallboard or monitor than in the cloud or on the web. Speak to a few actors whose nudies went from iCloud to available to all.

End of the line is if it’s not there it’s not hackable :)

P.S. don’t believe any site app or service that says “we don’t track or save personal data y yada yada yada. They make their living by the billions off of every little bit of data they can get their hands on. Individually it’s benign but when they start piecing the bits together your life is no longer private and your personal data is no longer secure.

every day thousands upon thousands of people see their identities stolen and their their credit ruined and worse their banks accounts wiped dry. Why? Little bit by bit personal data is leaked or hacked then when there’s enough info. Bam! And most of the stolen data comes from sites that are supposed to be secure not saving any personal info.

All you are storing in this case is where to send information about your Microsoft Authenticator app.

If you need to access that on a new phone, it will send the information to the email address associated with the Microsoft Authenticator app.

It's like asking for a password reset on a forum.

Replying is not possible. This forum is only available as an archive.
