Several new posts on the Consults blog offer useful advice for migraine sufferers.
?Migraine is so much more than a bad headache,? explains Dr. David W. Dodick, a neurologist at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona, who joins the Consults blog this week to answer reader questions about migraine. ?This inherited neurological disorder renders sufferers vulnerable to repeated activation of brain networks that result in severe head pain and a variety of other symptoms.?
Attacks can occur out of the blue, or even arise during sleep; they can also be provoked by myriad triggers. ?Research is progressing at a steady pace, and new treatments are on the horizon,? says Dr. Dodick, who is also president of the American Headache Society.
