I read recently that the term 'comfort zone' is actually kind of inaccurate anyway, haha..... It's really not all THAT comfortable.... :)

I'll have to remember where it was, and post the full quote....

I prefer the term "safety zone" because it's where the individual can avoid all the biggest triggers.

The image is still apt though. Eventually, the safety zone turns into a prison which prevents the individual from moving forward. The key is to stretch yourself gradually (and preferably with the help of a therapist) beyond the safety zone, until you are able to venture further and further out into the real world.

funny how i was able to get outside that safety zone but gradually ihave retreated back to it and you are so right it is a prison 4 walls that let no one in or you out

when stessors are to many to handle i think the saftey zone is a safe place sometimes though

Comfort zone or safety zone, to me they are only safe or comfortable because of the predictability they can provide. I think predictability (like most things) is only good in moderation.
