Hello,
In all honestly I have frowned upon the field of psychology for most of my life - I think largely because of its misuse rather than what the practice is actually supposed to be. I have begun to change my attitude towards the field - its never good to be too close minded about things.
Having read a couple posts I see that most people highlight a couple things that may be troubling them and while I do not have any clinically diagnosed disorders, here goes:
1) Multicultural issues (parents from two different countries) and I can never seem to fit with either one.
2) Childhood abuse by mother - pretty severe beatings as a child, verbal abuse and mind games by most likely mentally ill mother
3) Was cheated on and I am still not even almost ok with that -probably my first post.
4) Some issues with having been in the military - ties in to #3
In reality, to anyone I seem pretty normal and as successful as expected. I have a college degree in international business + an emphasis in engineering (stats etc.) and work at a medical facility as a research analyst.
I do have trouble making friends (a problem since I moved to a new city) but have a very good relationship with the friends I do have. I enjoy all sports and try to exercise 3-5 times a week.
Having read quite a few posts and responses here, your community seems like a very nice good-intentioned group and I hope I can be a part of that.
Thank you,
Sebastian
