To be completely honest, I'm a little nervous about participating in this community. I've spent some time reading a few posts and everyone seems pretty kind and genuine. Obviously enough to get me to post this! So anyway, about me..

My name is Chad. I grew up in a home where my dad sexually abused my sisters and I for about 8 years. I spent all my time from then until this last January convincing myself I wasn't affected by it. Unfortunately, every facet of my life has been. Everything from my platonic and romantic relationships to my success (or rather, lack thereof) with my post-secondary education. Even my ability to maintain employment. So, as of January, I decided that I wanted to fix things and get my life back. I've been going in for group therapy, as well as one-on-one since then. In that time, I've learned and grown a lot. The entire process has been very unnerving, but I know in the end it'll be worth the price.

I really look forward to meeting you guys and learning from your experiences. In turn, I hope I can help you grow through mine. Thank you for taking your time to read this.

Hi Chad:

I'm catching up on messages here. Welcome to one of the best communities around. I have benefited greatly from these folks who pass through here. And, I hope you will receive a sense of compassion, warmth, and a feeling that you can receive assistance and acceptance whenever you may be in need.

Best wishes.

Thanks Jesse. Though I haven't been here long, I've found the insight provided by everyone invaluable. I'm excited to finally make progress toward moving forward with my life. If there's anything you, or anyone else reading this needs, I'm more than happy to offer assistance as readily as it has been offered to me.
