Help with Menopause and Depression

Hi

I have a question....does beginning menopause cause you to become even more depressed? I tried taking estrogen but it really messed up my system, I have lost all my coping skills at a time when I really need them.

It certainly can. My mother got very depressed and anxious for a time. She benefited from SSRIs like Paxil.

 

[why]

BIG time. I started early menopause when I was thirty, due to surgery. A few months later, I went on Paxil. It helped.
