It can certainly be a difficult thing especially depending on things like our background, things that have happened, etc. But a good therapist or counsellor can teach us the tools to change how we think and feel. Some good books in the fields if psychology and self-help can help us learn how, also.
Searching online for the most popular or recommended books for self-esteem can be a great start, or looking for a therapist, self-help or support group - or an online resource like this one has lots of information, articles and suggestions, and people who may be working on the same things.
