Lilly Seeks Fda Approval To Market Cymbalta? For Anxiety
Wednesday, 10 May 2006

Eli Lilly and Co.is seeking filed for a new marketing approval to sell its antidepressant Cymbalta to treat generalized anxiety disorder.

Cymbalta already has U.S. approval to treat depression and neuropathic pain in diabetics. Another new use for Cymbalta could be for treatment of fibromyalgia, a chronic pain disorder. Lilly is starting final-phase tests on humans for that use.

I think that anytime a new drug can be introduced whether it be for the intended use or not...I think is a good thing. The believe that the more options a person has with respect to medication, the more optimistic the person will be when one medication doesn't work.
