hi everyone...I haven't been here in a while I was on vacation. Too bad that has ended. I hope you all have been doing well.

The good news is that even though I stopped my meds once again I have not been depressed in over two weeks. That could be also that I was on vacation and vacations are always good.

Either way, I went to see a specialist on meds and they suggested that when I get depressed again (even though now I feel like I wont get depressed again and Im in control) to go back on the meds and cbt therapy will be the best for me, but intensive cbt ie: a number of sessions only focused on cbt. I like that idea.

I am also going to take a break from my T as well. I dont know how much of a help they are anymore. anybody ever had cbt sessions?

Re: untitled sorry

I was resistant to cbt at first, but it really has helped me a lot. It has helped me change my way of thinking and looking at things.

Re: untitled sorry

Hi boi,

Welcome back. It's always yucky when holidays have to end, but there's also something about coming home and sleeping in your own bed again.

My first therapist was very CBT oriented and it was not the right approach for me at the time. I needed to know "why" I was the way I was before I could focus on fixing it. I've done that, and am now in a place where I am finding CBT immensely helpful. It has a very good success rate with a good percentage of people who use it. It is quite effective.

Re: untitled sorry

i think we did indeed go through about 20 sessions. once i'd gotten all i was able to from it, i moved on to a different therapist because i still had a lot of unresolved issues to deal with that cbt wasn't going to fix.

Re: untitled sorry

I did CBT in combination with other forms of therapy. CBT really did help. I still use the techniques taught to me. It was helpful.

Honestly, CBT has been more beneficial to my mental state than anything else I've ever tried. It seems to me that figuring out WHY you think the things you think, and WHY you feel the things you feel, is one of the most helpful things a person can do to start heading in a new direction. I literally catch myself in the act now when I start heading off-track, and am able to stop myself from going completely out of control. None of this was possible for me before CBT.

From my own experience, I highly recommend it. I think it provides the basic tools needed to gradually gain control over those raging emotions, and finally get a break from being controlled BY them.
