Hello to all:
I've been reading this forum for about 6 months and have finally decided to join. I'm a 55 year old woman, single, no kids. I've suffered from depression pretty much my whole life, from my teenage years. I'm also a recovering alcoholic (19 years sober) and a sexual child abuse survivor. I find it impossible to talk about my depression issues with "civilians." So I appreciate the support and advice that members give each other here.
I hope to check in often and participate.
Thanks for reading,
begonia

Hello Begonia and thanks for joining in after having been a "lurker".

(19 years sober)

That is wonderful to hear. Your experience would be most invaluable to other Forum members who might be struggling with their own sobriety.

I find it impossible to talk about my depression issues with "civilians."

Is it because of the so called "stigma" of mental illness that causes your apprehension, or because you have found that some people don't understand what the illness of depression is about?

Looking forward to your future participation in the Forum.
