Just pondering some questions for a position paper (I'm a student) Are many psychologists in agreement that mental health affects eating that contributes to overeating, weight gain and related conditions such as type 2 diabetes?

At what stage does mental health have the most to contribute in obesity and diabetes, prevention, or reversal, or success of other treatments?

What are the major road blocks that need to be overcome to utilize prevention as the main approach to disease as opposed to increasing reliance on pharmaceuticals (really broad Q, can be applied to many diseases)

What opposition does prevention and lifestyle face in healthcare delivery?

There is a growing body of research that shows that physical activity may be an important factor in delaying onset of Alzheimer's or even living disease free. is this generally accepted among psychologists, or still in research stage? If generally accepted, (or becomes accepted) is it possible that this could apply to other neurodegenerative disorders as well??

IS it possible to alter the behaviors of our population that have led to our curreent obesity pandemic? What approach would work best, or what steps need to occur??

Please share your ideas, opinions, there aren't any wrong answers!!
