Hello everyone, would just like to say a big hi from England!

Before I continue, I am 25 years old and I'm looking at getting in to something along the lines of Psychology/Psychotherapy. Now like I said I am looking for advice and pointers about this. First I have never studied the above at an academic level, just its always been an interest. I have worked in ICT for 3 years and sales for about 3 years prior to that. Am I too old to get in to this? I know as with most things experience is king. What would be the best way to start if I'm not too old? I have been stung with an online course before (?5,000 worth) and always am weary about these as I have seen courses for this from ?299 - ?3500. Is there a better way to get in to it?

Any help and advice is welcome. :2thumbs:

Thanks

Welcome to PL :)

I don't think that anyone is too old to pursue academics and an area of their choice. Why not look into a few universities and see what they require? :)

No, you're not too old. I think online degrees are gathering some momentum but I'm not sure they're to be recommended as yet above regular face-to-face university or college programs. If you do decide to sign up for on of the online programs, make sure it is from an accredited real world university. At present, there is little or no regulation about online academic programs. There's no point in putting time, effort, and money into something that won't be worth the paper it's printed on when you're finished.

Hi Psyc - welcome aboard.

Being a "mature student"? I say Go For It! I think that the life experience and maturity that comes with having been out in the world will be very valuable in embarking on academic studies. I have one kid in uni and another just submitted the application, and some of the course descriptions look very appealing! I wouldn't mind going back to school myself, although I think I should get the offsrping launched first.

I have family and friends who went back to school after being out for a while, and they're all doing pretty well now. I'm a big believer in it Never Being Too Late.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
