Unchecking "enable private messaging"

What does this do? If you uncheck "enable private messaging" does it stop private messages from everyone?

That's what I thought, but I tried it once before and messages still got through.

Are you "unchecking" it or "checking" it. If you unchecked it then yes messages would still get through but if you checked it off don't forget that at the bottom of the page you have to click on "Save Changes" in order for it to take effect.

You also have the option of only receiving PM's from moderators and people on your buddy list and all others will be blocked. That may be an option as well.

I got it and tried to send you one back but it wouldn't go through and this was the message that I got when I tried.

Janet has chosen not to receive private messages or may not be allowed to receive private messages. Therefore you may not send your message to him/her.
