Seriously, I'm really happy for you that you're finding it easier to get out and about. You're doing some great work and you deserve a lot of credit for it. I'm really so very proud of you. :flowers:

Well done nsa, you did really well to get on a bus, i havent been on a bus or any other public transport for over 4 years, I get so ill on buses, full ones stuck in traffic are no go for me,, might be able to manage a empty one but it would have to be a absolute emergency and a short journey, and at a quiet time, so well done again :)

A "gadabout" is like a social butterfly; one who gets out and around a lot; here, there and everywhere... :)

Now it's my turn:

go raibh maith agaibh

I'm guessing that's Gaelic for "Go rib (make fun of) mathematicians again". Am I close?

thanks TTE. i did go thru a period where i coulnd't get on the buses, and i stillsometimes let it pass if it's too full, but where i live ii's another half hour before next one. buses are not easy for ppl like us.
but with therapy, cbt ect, things should get easier for both of us.

my whole body is screaming at me to get out of the hse now.... but if i do that... then i'm beaten.... I don't know what to do.. stay in or go out.....
Hi notsureanymore,
Is there one thing you would like to do, like going for ice cream, if you can think of one thing, it may help.
My suggestion is you think of one thing you would not mind doing, try to see if you get out the door.
You may just surprise yourself! :)
Take care and good luck! :) ;)

Last year I had ordered a book and 2 cds which I really wanted, on the day they arrived my helper was due, but she didnt turn up due to illness, I knew I would have to wait a week to get them and was so angry and frustrated by this, so I decided to get there myself, because I really wanted the book and cds, I got a taxi and got him to wait as close to the shop as he could bearing in mind parking restrictions, I got to the shop, waited in a small queue, got the book and cd , walked back to the taxi and then home, it wasnt easy, but I did it because there was something I really really wanted. Just wanted to share this :)

hey!! TTE. that was some achievement... wow!..
if i may...reading thru the lines here... your emoitions ( angry & frustrated) outweighed the fear of going out alone. And you did it even tho you felt the axiiety of it too.. well done TTE.
look forward to another one of these posts some day.

thanks for sharing such a positive post.

nsa.

Thanks Nsa :)

It was an achievement I was proud of myself and it was nice to be in control and not relying on someone else to get you there and back,, It was good to read the book and listen to the cds later and think I GOT THESE ALL BY MYSELF!! Really good feeling.

the anger and frustration sort of made me act on the spur of the moment, although I thought about what i was about to do quickly I sort of just did it, rang the taxi etc and got there and back without thinking about it so much as I normally would, my mind was focused on getting the book and cd more than anything else,, wish I could do that more often!!!

you will eventually when the time is right (again)
really focusing on what we want to do can be hard, but we both have done it, and we will do it again.

guess we have to remember the good feeling we got\get when we do do these things. :)

it would appear that the meds have kicked in properly.. i can get on the bus, get into a car and now go into most shops with only a little bit of anxiety..
also today i was told that i can finally go back to driving, now if only i had a car.. lol
i can't say that all the anxiety is gone, i wish i could, but what i get now is bearable compared to before.. even todays apt had my anxiety a bit high.. but i was fine once in his office.

so now i'm going to be telling myself that i have these phobias under control again. and hopefully they will stay that way.

thank to everyone who was so supportive on this topic, i needed and got the support i needed, (may need again, but hopefully not on this topic).

again my thanks to all.
go raibh mile maith agaibh go leir.

Nsa, I'm so happy for you I could squeak! It's so good to hear you're able to get out without being paralyzed with fear. Just remember that we all have anxieties, and we all get nervous about things, at times. It's not just you. You're on your way, and I'm really proud of the work you've done. Give yourself a big hand. 👏

I think the credit goes to the human miracle of friendship. Friendship has the wonderful quality of being completely unaware of distance. One can have friends all over the world, thanks to the internet, and there is little that means as much as good friends. :)

Today i think i put these meds and myself to the test, i have to go get my eyes tested... from previous experience, the room where the test is done is qyite small
and usually there are a good few ppl waiting as well.. aaagh the thoughts of it.

nsa

I will be thinking about you Nsa, dentist and eye tests are difficult, i have a dentist app in august and Im dreading it, its not the dentist, its the waiting room , always busy, very small, just like you the thought of it!!! Sending you positives that all goes well, best wishes from TTE
