Good luck! It has seemed like to me that perhaps when a therapist doesn't direct clients as much it might take a little longer to get going and for it to start helping, but I don't think it means that it won't eventually help. With that being said, I also think that the biggest factor is your relationship with him and whether you like him, regardless of what approach he uses. Maybe once you get used to him things will feel more like they're working. Also, I can relate to the $$ thing, I have to pay a lot for my therapy too, but I have come to really like the psychologist and think it's worth it. Keep us posted!
